For you gunsmiths and hobbyists building custom rifles with custom stocks.  This is 1/2" outside diameter, .260" inside diameter, 6061 T-6 aluminum.  Each of the 2 pieces is 4" long.

   I believe that this 1/2" OD provides the best balance of resistance to compression when the guard screws are tightened, while still maintaining stock strength in the grip area.

   I also believe that when a stock is drilled out for the 5/8" or larger diameter pillars, the stock is unnecessarily weakened.
